The Shuswap Interagency Case Assessment Team (SICAT) works together to identify risks and increase safety. This group responds to referrals of suspected highest risk domestic violent cases with a goal to increase safety by:
- Identifying risk using the BC Summary of Domestic Violence Risk Factors, an evidence-based risk assessment tool
- Legally and ethically sharing risk-related information
- Reaching agreement regarding the risk level
- Developing a collaborative risk management plan that addresses victim safety and support
SICAT is co-chaired by RCMP-based and SAFE Society programs and is a partnership of local agencies, including:
- RCMP Salmon Arm and Sicamous detachments
- Ministry of Children and Family Development
- Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction (MSDPR)
- Community Corrections
- Police Based Victim Services
- Community Based Victim Services
- Interior Health Mental Health and Substance Use
- Transition House
Referrals can be made to the team by any professional who suspects highest risk domestic violence may be present.
